From the onset of the industrial revolution, many countries made large
strides in terms of economic prosperity. During this unstable growth
period other parts of the world remained static. This led to the
exploitation of these slower progressing countries. As the workforce
became more specialized, developed countries relied more on global
resources. The reconstructed global economy did not account for the
specific diagnoses of underdevoloped nations. Add to that political
corruption and devasting climate conditions and you get an unbreakable
poverty trap. People in third world rely on everything they earn and
own so saving is just not an option. Multinational corporations
largely dont respect the intricate factors that marginalize people
stuck in desolate circumstances. Jeffrey sachs wrote a book called the
end of poverty that further expose the conditions that have caused
widespread global poverty.
